About
the Luthier
Mark
has always had an interest in music and art and found that
building guitars was a great way to combine these passions.
After creating his first guitar as an art student in college
he was hooked. He spent several years building up his tool
and wood collection while still building guitars in his basement.
When the time came to take his building more seriously he
spent some time with Harry Fleishman at Luthier's School International,
and his understanding of the guitar took a great leap forward.
He tries to combine everything he's learned as a musician,
luthier, and artist to approach guitar building in a different
light. Mark likes to let the wood speak for itself and prefers
simple elegance over flashy appointments. He builds two standard
models, as well as custom designed instruments and really
enjoys working with clients to provide them with a guitar
that best fits their taste and playing style.
Mark
builds several guitars per year out of his home, balancing
guitar building with his full time job as a director of
a sculpture and design studio.
